What sets your TikTok region
TikTok says it may set your region from the SIM card region or the IP address. A proxy changes only the IP, so a phone with a local SIM can keep showing local videos.
Official data routes
Academic researchers in the US, EEA, UK, Canada and Switzerland can apply for the Research API, which bans commercial use. Ads shown in Europe are searchable in the Commercial Content Library. Neither needs a proxy.
Terms of Service
TikTok's terms (US version, July 2026) ban scraping or extracting data with automated software or bots unless TikTok approves it in writing. A proxy doesn't make that allowed.
Ways to route TikTok through a proxy
TikTok has no proxy field of its own. On a phone, run a proxy app in VPN mode so the TikTok app picks it up. On a computer, tiktok.com goes through the browser's proxy.

How to set up a proxy for TikTok
Copy the host, port, username and password from the Geonode dashboard, then pick your device.
Install Super Proxy (SCHELER Software) from Google Play.
Tap Add Proxy.
Enter a Profile Name and pick HTTP or SOCKS5 as the Protocol.
Enter the host in Server and the port in Port.
Enter the proxy username and password.
Tap the save icon at the top right.
Select the profile, tap Start and allow the VPN connection request.
Force stop TikTok in Settings > Apps, then open it again.

On the same device, open an IP checker in the browser. It should show the proxy's IP and country instead of your own.
Open TikTok and scroll the For You feed for a few minutes. Most videos and ads should come from the target country.
How to turn the proxy off
Android: tap Stop in Super Proxy. iPhone and iPad: turn off the connection switch in Shadowrocket.
Windows: in Network & internet > Proxy, select Set up and turn off Use a proxy server. macOS: switch off Secure web proxy (HTTPS) under Proxies and click OK.
Common TikTok proxy problems and fixes
The feed won't load after you start the proxy
- A wrong port or a mistyped username or password. A free proxy may also have gone offline
- Test the host and port in the Geonode proxy checker. If it passes, re-enter the credentials and restart TikTok.

- A Wi-Fi proxy is set, but the TikTok app sends its traffic around it
- Remove the Wi-Fi proxy and use Super Proxy or Shadowrocket, which capture all app traffic. Then restart TikTok.

On a school or office network that blocks TikTok, a proxy app in VPN mode usually gets the app through. In a country that bans TikTok, such as India since 2020, the app is also missing from local app stores, and using it can break local law.
Online proxy sites often fail on tiktok.com because the page builds its feed with JavaScript. When they load, whoever runs the site can read what you type, including passwords. Use them only for public videos.
Residential proxies in the target country, if you want to see TikTok the way a local user does. ISP proxies for a logged-in account that needs the same IP every day. Datacenter proxies cost less, but TikTok recognizes hosting IP ranges.
TikTok can see whether an IP belongs to a hosting company or a home internet provider. It also says it may set your region from the SIM card region, so a residential IP can still clash with a local SIM.
Not by itself. A proxy changes the IP TikTok sees, not the SIM or the account. It also doesn't change the store TikTok installs from: the App Store follows your Apple Account's country or region, and Google Play only lets you switch country once every 90 days, while you are in that country and with a local payment method. Whether TikTok LIVE and TikTok Shop follow the IP isn't documented, so test with your own account.
A separate IP per account stops IP linking, but TikTok also links accounts by device, phone number and email. Extra accounts made to boost your own or get around a ban break TikTok's rules, and every linked account can be removed. Agencies can use TikTok's business tools instead.
