PUBG Proxy Server Setup for PUBG Mobile and BGMI on Android and iPhone

PUBG Mobile / BGMI works on

  • Android
  • iOS
  • iPadOS

Key facts

  • In-game proxy setting

None. PUBG Mobile and BGMI have no proxy field, so the proxy runs on the phone itself, either for the whole device or for the game alone.

  • Why players use one

To get past school or office Wi-Fi that blocks the game, to keep one fixed IP per account, or to route around an ISP with a bad path to the game server.

  • Server change limit

After you change server in the game, Krafton's help center says you cannot change it again for 7 days. A proxy does not reset that timer.

  • Ban risk

Krafton restricts accounts for hacks, modified apps and abnormal gameplay. PUBG Mobile has been blocked in India since September 2020, and BGMI is only available in India.

Which connection method carries PUBG Mobile traffic

Match traffic goes over UDP. Pick the wrong method and the lobby loads but the match never starts.

Which proxy type to use with PUBG Mobile and BGMI

PUBG Mobile has six servers: Asia, Middle East, Europe, North America, South America and KRJP. Pick a proxy country close to the one you play on, for example Singapore for Asia, the UAE for Middle East, Germany or the Netherlands for Europe, the United States for North America, Brazil for South America, and Japan or South Korea for KRJP. BGMI has only one region, so use an Indian IP.

Best for PUBG Mobile / BGMI

Residential proxies

from $0.27/GB

Geonode relays UDP over SOCKS5 on residential only. A sticky session keeps one IP for 10 minutes by default, and you can set it anywhere from 3 minutes to 24 hours, so pick a lifetime longer than your play session.

Lobby only

ISP proxies

from $1.25/IP

A fixed IP, but no UDP relay, so matches won't run through it.

Lobby only

Datacenter proxies

from $0.14/GB

No UDP relay. Fine for the lobby or store, not for matches.

Connection test only

Free public proxies

Free

Public proxies are shared and die quickly. Few of them relay UDP.

How to set up a proxy for PUBG Mobile and BGMI

You need a SOCKS5 host, port, username and password, and for matches the proxy has to relay UDP. The steps below use the Geonode residential UDP gateway.

  1. Install v2rayNG, the open-source client from github.com/2dust/v2rayNG.

  2. Tap + at the top of the main screen, then Add [SOCKS].

  3. Type a name in remarks, proxy.geonode.io in address and 12000 in port.

  4. In User (optional), enter your Geonode username with -requireUdp-true added to the end. Put your password in Password (optional).

  5. Tap the check icon to save.

  6. Open the side menu, tap Per-app settings, turn on Enable per-app and tick PUBG MOBILE or BGMI.

  7. Back on the main screen, select the config and tap the play button at the bottom.

  8. Allow the VPN connection request that Android shows, then start the game.

How to check that the proxy works

  1. In v2rayNG, tap the status line at the bottom (it reads Connected. Tap to check connection). If the proxy works, it changes to Connection succeeded in and a time in milliseconds.

  2. Open Geonode's What is my IP page in a browser that goes through the proxy. It should show the proxy's country, not yours.

  3. Start a Training Grounds session or a match. If it loads with the proxy off and hangs with it on, the proxy is not relaying UDP.

How to turn the proxy off

  1. v2rayNG: tap the stop button at the bottom of the main screen. Shadowrocket: turn off the connection switch on the Home screen.

  2. Wi-Fi proxy: set Proxy back to None on Android, or Configure Proxy to Off on iPhone.

Common PUBG Mobile and BGMI proxy problems and fixes

  • Lobby loads, but the match hangs on loading or disconnects

    Cause
The proxy passes TCP but not UDP
    Fix
Enable UDP on Geonode residential (see setup).
  • "Unable to connect to server", error codes 1541407xx

    Cause
Error codes 154140712, 154140714 and 154140716 all mean the game can't reach its servers. Through a tunnel app this usually means the proxy is unreachable or the login is wrong
    Fix
Check that PUBG Mobile has network permission (Settings > Apps > PUBG Mobile > Permissions). Then turn the tunnel off and see if the game connects directly, as Krafton support suggests for this error. If it does, re-enter host, port, username and password, and test them in the Geonode proxy checker.
  • Ping is higher with the proxy than without it

    Cause
The proxy country is far from the game server you selected
    Fix
Pick a proxy country close to that server (see the server list under proxy types) with the country targeting username format. If ping is still high, play without the proxy.
  • Connection drops in the middle of a match

    Cause
A rotating session changed the IP, or the TCP control connection closed and took the UDP association with it
    Fix
Use a sticky session instead of a rotating one. Also keep the phone on one network: a switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data mid-match will drop it.

PUBG Mobile / BGMI proxy FAQ

A server that relays BGMI traffic, so the game connects from the proxy's IP instead of yours. BGMI has no proxy field. You add a SOCKS5 proxy with UDP relay to a tunnel app instead, such as v2rayNG on Android or Shadowrocket on iPhone.

The Geonode free proxy list has free SOCKS5 and HTTP proxies, and they are fine for testing a setup. Most public proxies don't relay UDP, though, so a match over one usually won't load.

There is nothing official to download. A proxy server is just a host, port and login that you type into a tunnel app. APK files sold as a PUBG or BGMI proxy server don't come from the game's publishers, and Krafton lists modified apps as a reason for account restrictions.

No. UC is bought in the game store and stored on the publisher's servers, so a proxy can't add any. Tools that promise free UC are scams or hacks, and hacks get accounts banned.

Residential SOCKS5 proxies with UDP relay. Geonode ISP and datacenter proxies don't relay UDP, so matches won't run through them.

Rarely. A proxy adds a hop between you and the game server. Ping only drops if your own provider has a bad route to that server. For the lowest ping, Krafton recommends the server that matches your home region.
