The original is gone from Chrome
The original Proxy SwitchyOmega was a Manifest V2 extension; Chrome turned those off in 2025 and removed support entirely in Chrome 139. The maintained fork is listed as Proxy SwitchyOmega 3 (ZeroOmega) and keeps the same screens.
Only the browser uses the proxy
The extension changes the proxy for the browser it is installed in. Other browsers, desktop apps and the operating system keep their own connection.
Profiles stay on one computer
Profiles and passwords are saved in the browser. To move them, use Make backup on the Import/Export page or turn on sync with a GitHub Gist. Coming from the old SwitchyOmega? Load its backup file with Restore from file on ZeroOmega's Import/Export page instead of re-creating profiles.

How to set up a proxy in Proxy SwitchyOmega
You need the proxy host, port, protocol and, for paid proxies, the username and password.
Install Proxy SwitchyOmega 3 (ZeroOmega) from the Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
Click the ZeroOmega icon in the toolbar and choose Options.
Click New profile..., type a Profile name, select Proxy Profile and click Create.
Under Proxy servers, set Protocol to HTTP, then enter the host in Server and the number in Port.
Click the lock icon at the end of the row, enter the Username and Password and click Save changes.
In the Bypass List, add any site that should skip the proxy, one per line.
Click Apply changes in the left menu.
Click the toolbar icon and select the profile by name.
For Incognito or InPrivate windows, open chrome://extensions (edge://extensions in Edge), click Details on ZeroOmega and turn on Allow in Incognito (Allow in InPrivate in Edge).

Click the toolbar icon and check that your profile name is selected, not [Direct] or [System Proxy].
Open the Geonode What is my IP page. It should show the proxy's IP and country, not your home connection.
If you use a Switch Profile, open a site that matches a rule and one that does not, and compare the IP on each.
How to turn the proxy off
Click the toolbar icon and select [Direct] to connect without a proxy, or [System Proxy] to go back to the operating system's setting.
To delete a profile, open it in Options, click Delete at the top of the profile page and then Apply changes.
Common SwitchyOmega proxy problems and fixes
The browser keeps asking for a proxy sign-in (error 407)
- The login was not saved behind the lock icon, or it has a typo
- Open the profile, click the lock icon, enter the proxy username and password from the Geonode dashboard (not your account email) and click Apply changes. Check the proxy in the Geonode proxy checker if the error stays.
CauseFix"Your browser DOES NOT support SOCKS5 proxy authentication!"
- Chrome and Edge cannot send a username and password to a SOCKS5 proxy, from any extension
- Switch the profile to the HTTP port your provider gives for the same proxy, or use Firefox, which sends SOCKS5 logins.
CauseFixProxy settings are controlled by another app or extension
- A VPN or another proxy extension holds the browser's proxy setting. A red badge on the ZeroOmega icon means that app has higher priority.
- Turn off the other extension on the Extensions page, then select your profile in ZeroOmega again. If the red badge stays, uninstall and reinstall ZeroOmega so it takes priority.
CauseFixA yellow number on the icon, and parts of pages don't load
- Some resources failed to load through the selected profile, often because the proxy is slow or blocked by that site
- Click the icon to see the failed domains (turn on Show count of failed web requests in Options if you don't see the number). Add the ones you trust to the Bypass List or a switch rule, or pick a proxy in another country.
